'My West Coast'
We elated to to call the Coastal Cocktail Clash open!
Antidote Distilling Co. and Esquimalt Vermouth and Aperitifs and Rootside Bitters teamed up to present Vancouver Island greatest Cocktail Competition!
Everyone experiences the magic of the West Coast differently. From the gloomy forests to the fresh sea breeze - there lies magic around every stone! We want contestants to show their skill in showing 'their West Coast' in the form of a cocktail. Share your story and the wonderful area we live in!
Here is more general info:
- Entries to the competition opens at 12:00 PDT on 13 May 2024.
- Each contestant need to pay the $35 entry fee to enter.
- Antidote will send a short form to the contestants upon entry to gather some information from them.
- They will need to indicate which Antidote Distilling co. product and which Esquimalt Rootside bitters they want to use for their cocktail.
- We will send out a 'Competition Starter Kit' to each contestant containing their choice of product as soon as entries close on the 9th of June 2024, 16:00 PDT.
- Your cocktail creation must display and adhere to the theme – My West Coast – showcasing the way you live, breathe and experience the West Coast.
- Final Cocktail submissions along with a description of the cocktail, the recipe, a short bio of yourself and a picture of the cocktail must be submitted by 22 June 2024, 16:00 PDT.
- After receiving all the entries, our Judges will judge each cocktail blind (the creator won't be know to the judges) and choose the 8 finalist who will battle it out in the finals on the 6th of July at Antidote Distilling Co. in Port Alberni.

- Must live in British Columbia
- If selected, be available to travel to Port Alberni at own cost to compete in the finals on 6 July, 2024. (Antidote Distilling Co. will pick up and drop off contestants at the Hullo/BC Ferry terminal)
- Must be available for one weekend during the month of August/September for a “Bar takeover” event at Antidote Distilling Co.
- Must have serving it right certificate by 6 July 2024
- Must be legal drinking age in BC

The base spirit for each cocktail must be from the following Antidote Distilling Co. products:
- Antidote Black Gin
- Antidote London Dry
- Antidote Wild Blackcap Raspberry Liqueur
- Antidote Spicy Habanero Vodka
and must include one of the following bitters:
- Rootside Aromatic-Ish
- Rootside Cascadian
- Rootside Lavender Tonic
- Rootside Lemon Tonic
- Rootside Ginger Lemon
which will be supplied to each entry

If you are selected as a finalist, then you need to get your best cocktail shoes on, pack your shakers and make your way to Port Alberni on the 9th of July!
The final event will be held at Antidote Distilling Co. and will be open to ticket buyers to taste and get a vote into hat.

All entries will be judged blind - the identity of the contestant won't be know to the judges.
After the top 8 is decided, the finals take place at Antidote Distilling Co.
Each finalist will have a booth where they prepare and serve their cocktail at. They will represent their cocktail to the judges who will judge each cocktail.
One vote will come from attendees to the event who will taste each cocktail.
The last percentage vote will come from social media where each cocktail will be posted and measure by the amount of likes received.

Each Cocktail will be scored under the following category and point system:
Overall Performance and Presentation – 15 Points
Overall Creativity – 15 Points
Taste & Balance – 40 Points
Technical Execution – 15 Points
Practicality/Replicability – 15 Points

We have a combined 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize to the value of $4500 in cash, Merchandise and experiences.
